Sharp increases in gas prices have pushed the cost per gallon to over $4 in Laguna Niguel and Orange County in just the last few days. As reported in the Laguna Niguel –Dana Point Patch on July 13, 2015 gas prices in Orange County are now the third highest in the state of California. The month of July has seen the largest single day increase in gas prices since February of this year. These price increases put pressure on service businesses to increase their prices to cover these rapidly rising costs. Laguna Niguel pool service company, Beachside Pool Service, sees the situation as temporary and is committing to ride out the increase without passing on the cost to customers.

 Shortages Fuel Price Increase

The rapid increase in prices has been the result of losses in both refining capacity and the supply of raw materials. Southern California refineries didn’t receive supplies of foreign oil last week and they were forced to call on their reserves to meet demand.

At the same time, refining capacity is diminished as the Torrance refinery operated by ExxonMobil continues to be off-line due to an explosion earlier in the year. The Tesoro refinery in Carson is also partially off-line for maintenance.
