I have weekly pool service.  Why do I have a white ring around the pool? Aren’t you keeping it clean?

The water in our area of the country is very hard.  That means it has high concentrations of calcium and

magnesium.  As water evaporates, the H2O returns to the atmosphere but the minerals are left behind in the form of the “salts” you are seeing on your pool tile.  Tile cleaning is not a DIY job; as you can easily damage your tile.  Talk to your pool tech from Beachside Pool Service about the best method for cleaning your pool tile.  Beachside uses a variety of techniques for different types of tile so we get rid of the ring without damaging the tile.

This frequently happens when you don’t have a trained professional servicing your pool.  Beachside Pool Service is NSPF certified.  That means they have the skills and knowledge needed to keep water clear ad the sides of your pool clean.  That green is algae.  If your water is not properly balanced you can get algae growth.  Also, if your filter is not cleaned and backwashed regularly you can get algae growth.  Improper chlorine levels can also cause this problem.  The easiest solution is to call the Laguna Beach pool service experts at Beachside.

Why is the pool water making my hair green?  Is there too much chlorine?

This is a question frequently asked by blondes.  The same mechanism that turns blonde hair green also changes the color of darker hair, it just isn’t as visible.  The problem isn’t the chlorine, it is the metal in the pool water.  You may not realize that there are metals in your water, but just like calcium and magnesium cause the white lines to form, metals – copper in particular – bind to the protein in the hair shaft and give it the “off” appearance.   Copper is commonly used in algicides, treatment to correct the green pool walls could make your blonde hair green.  You can remove the green from your hair with special shampoos or make a household remedy with any acidic solution.  Acids will release the metal and restore your hair color.  Lemon juice, vinegar, and tomato juice are all acidic.

You sound like you know your stuff.  Do you only work on swimming pools?
