Laguna Beach pool service acid washes pools to remove stains

Laguna Beach Pool Service – Is it Worth it?

A swimming pool is one of the largest upgrades or improvements you can make to a property.  It is an investment of your valuable land and financial resources.  You want to make sure that it is properly maintained.  Should you do it yourself or pay for a Laguna Beach pool service?

Regular Cleaning

Your swimming pool must be regularly cleaned to remove dirt, debris.  Even if you operate an automatic pool sweep the pool sides and bottom need brushing and vacuuming to keep them clean.  This removes any debris or algae in the areas missed by the automatic pool sweep.  It is important to brush the tile and walls of the pool weekly.  Loose debris is more easily captured by the filter or vacuumed away.

Should you do it yourself?  Think of the amount of time involved each week and the equipment you will need to keep on hand.  Even if you are the type of person that personally washes your car each week, you might not want to “wash” the pool each week. You may consider weekly pool service.

Make Sense to You?

If the pool pump is the heart of your pool system, the filter is the kidney.  It removes small and large particles from the water.  Filters come in several varieties: diatomaceous earth, sand, and cartridge.  Each type of filter has special maintenance requirements.  Diatomaceous earth and sand filters must be backwashed regularly.  Diatomaceous earth filters must also be recharged.  This involves removing the used filtering material and replacing it with new material and coating the filtering grids with new diatomaceous earth.

Recharging is a messy proposition if you don’t know what you are doing.  You can easily make a mess of the pool, the filter, and yourself. Sand filters must be backwashed as well.  Sand does not need to be replaced as often as diatomaceous earth and the process isn’t as messy.  However, sand is heavy; especially wet sand.  Replacing the sand is rigorous physical activity.

Cartridge filters are the easiest to maintain but aren’t commonly used in Southern California.  The cartridge is removed at least once a month and washed out then returned to its housing.

Even if you are the type of person that personally changes the oil in your car, you might not want to be the person that must backwash your filter or change out diatomaceous earth or sand.  Filter cleaning and equipment maintenance are no big deal for a pro.  You should seriously consider a professional Laguna Beach pool service if you have a diatomaceous earth or sand filter.

water-featureWater Chemistry

Sparkling clear water doesn’t happen by accident.  It takes a careful balance of sanitizer, pH, and alkalinity with an eye towards total dissolved solids.  Get the water chemistry wrong and you get algae blooms, high levels of bacteria, water that burns the eyes and dries out the skin, stained Marcite or DiamondBrite, pitted surfaces, and ruined equipment.

Unless you are comfortable with the ins and outs of chemistry and the effects of the elements on sanitizers you are better off leaving this to a professional.  Sure, you can take a water sample into a local pool supply store and they can test it, but you will need to add just the right amount of chemical they may prescribe. Get it wrong and you’ve got big problems. Hire a professional Laguna Beach pool service and you’ve got no worries.
