Newport Coast Pool Service FAQ

Beachside Pool Service has been a Newport Coast pool service company for years. During that time, people have asked us many questions. To help pool owners in Newport Coast, we’ve put together the answers to questions people ask us the most often.

Newport Beach Pool Service keeps water clean and sparklingWhat happens during a pool service?

Each pool service should include:

  • Brushing pool walls and tiles
  • Vacuuming debris
  • Skimming surface
  • Cleaning debris from skimmer
  • Cleaning pump basket
  • Testing water and adjusting chemistry as necessary

In addition, the condition of the pool equipment should be noted. When necessary, the pool filter should be cleaned or backwashed.

How long should the pump run?

The amount of time the pump and filter runs depends on the time of year. In the summer, you should run the pump at least 8 hours a day. In the winter, we have less sunlight and it’s not necessary to run the pump and filter as long. Four to six hours in the winter is sufficient to keep water clean and sanitized.

Why do I need to add water?

There are two main reasons to add water: evaporation and leaks. Unless you’ve had a raucous pool party with excessive splashing, you are only going to lose water as the sun and wind evaporate it or if you have a leak. With shorter winter days, less water is lost to evaporation and it’s not necessary to add water very often. During the summer, the sun and wind combine to evaporate water more quickly. If you are adding water once a week or more, you may have a leak.

How can I tell if my pool leaks?

The most reliable test for pool leaks is the bucket test. Place a bucket on the top pool step and fill it with water level with the level of water in the pool. In 24 hours, compare the level of water in the bucket to the level of water in the pool. If the level of water in the pool is lower, you probably have a leak. Call Beachside Pool Service and we can help you with pool leak detection.

Do salt pools still need service?

Salt pools use an electrical reaction to convert salt into chlorine. Just because your pool is generating chlorine automatically doesn’t mean it doesn’t need regular service. Maintaining proper pH is critical to salt pool operation. In addition, debris still need to be skimmed, filters cleaned and the walls brushed.

Why can’t I just do it myself?

There’s no reason you can’t clean and maintain your pool yourself. You can also work on your own car, do your own taxes and represent yourself in court. However, in each of these instances, you are better off using the services of a professional. An NSPF certified operator like Beachside Pool Service has the knowledge, skills, and training to handle any problem you may have with your pool. From maintaining correct water chemistry to breaking down and repairing your gas pool heater, a professional Newport Coast pool service like Beachside Pool Service is the way to go.

How much Newport Coast pool service cost?

Prices varies depending on your pool. Enclosed pools capture fewer debris and cost less to clean. For a free estimate, call Beachside Pool Service at (949) 939-0023 or use the Contact Us form.
